Best selling author and Apex writer Wulf Moon's “Super-Duper Moongirl and the Amazing Moon Dawdler” won Best Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Story of 2019 and many SFWA members placed it on this year's Nebula Recommended Reading List. The Nebula nomination voting ends February 15th, I believe, so give “Moongirl” some love.

Congrats Moon!

About:

I think that handicapped MCs are the wave of the sci fi future.

My disabilities have been a more fertile source of inspiration than my ethnicity, gender, sexuality, etc. (all those other identity boxes). (My studder isn't significant enough to constitute a disability but it allows me to at least begin to understand how it is for someone that has a more severe studder. I don't know if my hearing loss is bad enough to constitute a disability but it's progressed to that point where I feel disabled b/c of it.). Many disabilities have more urgency baked into them than other identities: hearing, vision, ability to move can all get worse. And urgency makes for better writing.

Thanks, all. I'm happy SFWA people liked the story. Will it get enough votes to be on the actual Nebula ballot? We'll have to wait and see--the recommendation period is now closed and tallies are being done. In addition to the Nebulas, the next big one is the Hugo, which is currently ongoing. If you attended WorldCon last year or bought a membership before December 31st, 2019 for this year, that qualifies you to vote. I suspect we have few that attend, but sound off if you had or have a membership so I can wine and dine and serenade you. Smile
