@axeminster Well done Dustin. About time.
OMG. I'm shocked! SHOCKED I tell you!
You totally deserved it, @axeminster. Do they let you buy lottery tickets where you just pick the same number numerous times? You seriously WON with your 1111th post on the 11th page of results in the 11th month at 11pm GMT... maybe a foretelling of your placing for the whole of Vol 39?
I wish... Only the four first place finishers are in the running for the grand prize. Egotistically, and symmetristically I did want the 1 - but I would just have been nervous for the next five months thinking about it, so I'm perfectly content with the ultimate W.

Waitaminnit...who's going to post all our quarterly posterly thingerlies now, then? Huh? Huh? Irresponsible I call it.
And, yeah, congratulations too.

@axeminster Well done Dustin. About time.
Thanks Tim.
I was sad to read your results post this time around. I for one know you are talented enough to win, and it is just a matter of time. Twelve years in my case ... I've always imagined it like firing arrows into a dark barn with a target inside. This time, when the lights came on, I'd finally hit the thing.

OMG!!
3 is 11 in binary!!!
Well… 1 is a part of 11, and 2 is 1+1 so ether way U are set for 11 but still…i see you climbed the whole ladder to get there almost 2 times (not to mention this pyramid of hard work at the bottom) so not knowing you that well i can tell its well deserved.
DUDE congratulations !!!11!!!!!!!
Peace,

@axeminster Well done Dustin. About time.
Thanks Tim.
This time, when the lights came on, I'd finally hit the thing.
Wait. There's a light switch somewhere?
From my limited understanding, the arrows of your continued practice can occasionally ricochet and hit the switch. Make sure you have another arrow ready for when that happens!

@ease So many people firing arrows in the same dark barn - dangerous pastime this writing lark. Would help if the judges didn't play hide the light switch.
@time more people to accidentally ricochet and hit the switch 😉
If the metaphor is getting weak, by that I mean: we're all learning and exchanging our findings, and growing closer to winning together.
It's only dangerous if you enter the barn, and I'm not sure what that would even mean in this metaphor?! Cheating?

According to Winston Churchill, "success is going from failure to failure with enthusiasm"
Somehow I lost my Guthington profile, but it's me. Amy Wethington = Guthington = Physa
I understood it as:
you go into a dark barn aiming to shoot the target you cannot see.
You take a shot in the dark, and than someone lights the switch to check if its a hit.
its a try fail cycle where you never know what the judges will like (hence many factors can tilt the scales and as KE said silvers are not that different from wins).
But I liked Ease’s version even more. Some cool grim teambuilding and justice at the end tropes there.

@AxeMinister sent me here, and I couldn't stop grinning when I saw the win! I actually still can't. Awesome!
I got my 12th mention in a row this quarter (my second SHM), and Dustin is inspiration to keep me going for 12 years if necessary.
Congrats to Becky too. I especially enjoy the success from some of the WotF stalwarts.
I've missed being in and around this place and hope to be a regular again soon. 🙂
