I highlight the dates for the listed quarter.

And I appreciate that immensely!

I'm oddly feeling early antsy-ness over this quarter. I submitted mid March which is late for me as I normally submit pretty early. But this quarter I was thinking I might not submit at all because I didn't have anything new. And then I realized when I looked through my Submission Grinder that this story that I love (well if I'm honest I kinda love all my stories) and have sent out without much success hadn't been submitted here yet. So here's hoping this is the place where it strikes the right chord!

That's just it, you never know what will tickle Dave's fancy. But one thing is for sure. If you don't submit it, you will NEVER know.

Oh, you can be angsty as soon as you like! Results sometimes come fast, sometimes come slow--if you feel like it, you could start being angsty now. I've certainly had quicker results than this in the last couple of years...though if we haven't heard anything by July, I think it would be very much an angsty month.

I'm not going to be feeling so angsty, I think I submitted the wrong story for Q2, though I am at least entered. I feel much more optimistic about my Q3 and Q4 prospects, though.

The earliest I've ever had Q2 results is 5/26...in 2014! But that's the only one I've ever received in May. Three of my results have arrived in June, but by far, most of them (6) have been in July, and the last two years have actually been closer to the second half of July.

I say all of this so that the Contest can surprise me with something unexpected because in all my years of entering, I've never received results on the same day twice. Plus, as @disgruntledpeony said, this year is extra-unpredictable with the changes to the gala/anthology schedule, so who knows!

Joni called me on Saturday. I did ask for you guys. Just got a vague answer that they’re working on it. Your guess is as good as mine.

I usually get replies pretty close to (or after) the end of the next quarter. So I won't think much of it until late June. I do feel better about my Q2 submission than previous ones. We shall see. 

Wow, all this fidgeting and angst on the day before THURSDAY. Relax and put your fingers to the keys, as you create the next masterpiece that will make you a winner. June,24 is the day I predict results. So retreat to your pillow forts and sip tequila, and eat chocolates as you await the results. 

Every quarter has been a little bit longer than the year before lately - the contest is growing. I wouldn’t even think about results until after the 4th of July. Right now it’s time to focus on getting our Q3s done!

Fingers crossed for you! I personally think my Q2 is a bit of a dud, so I'm hard focused on finishing my Q3--this is probably going to be my first non-twitchy quarter because of that. I'd be pleasantly surprised to see it overperform, but I think I fudged it.

My 2ND QTR was better than my first, but I had formatting issues and a grammatical error. I am more hopeful about my 3RD QTR. I am thinking about reworking my 2ND quarter, but I will wait for results.

Trying to drum up some 2ND QTR excitement. I wonder when the results will be out. Hoping for beginning July.

I'm not twitching. Why would I be twitching? It's not like I have way more hope than is safe for my Q2 submission or anything. (Watch me get another SHM, just you wait...)

I just need to be a stoic about it. It's going to be a rejection. Anything else then I can be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed.

I have my fingers crossed for you on this one!  

My fingers are itching to hear back. The wait is always what gets me. I just submitted my Q3, so at least I'm staying productive. Gotta keep that nose to the grindstone while working on my long-term projects, after all.

@earthkeeper78 I understand how you feel. I think it will be a little more for results. I heard Thursdays are good days.

I'm not too twitchy for my part. Somehow, making finalist took some of the stress away for me (which I know isn't the case for everyone). We'll see how I feel after results come, however. Probably a good couple weeks to a month yet, though.

I think because of the lateness of the gala everything will come sooner rather than later. I still pick this Thursday as the day of reckoning. 

@storysinger Here’s to hoping, but my guess is July 1 or July 8. However I am not looking forward to QTR2. Now QTR 3 is a different story. I learned a lot QTR 3. I did take workshop QTR 2, but QTR2 depends on mercy for stupid mistakes.

that’s actually an interesting point I hadn’t considered, but maybe more likely to effect Q3 timing? 

I was expecting things to drop maybe mid-July, but if it happens earlier, I certainly won't complain. Even if I get a rejection, I'd still like to compare how my first submission did against this one.

@rschibler I’d love to see Q3 sped up, but that would mean the end of summer and going back to the office.

Honestly I expect it to be "on time" sometime in July, but after the 4th. 

Sometimes early July for results would be nice. (Fingers crossed for you btw Disgruntled Peony  :))

I'll be very interested to see how my Q2 went. While it may still contain a few amateur errors, there were one or two MAJOR errors that I fixed since previous subs. We'll see.

To ease your pain . . .

You can stop twitching for the moment. I know where they're at in the process for Q2. It's going to be a couple more weeks. Start twitching somewhere around July 4th through the 10th. May fireworks go off for you then!

In the meantime, don't you have a Q3 entry to submit by midnight, June 30th?

@wulfmoon lol my Q3 is already in, but Q4 first draft in progress.

Thank you, Wulf Moon! I'll be focusing on honing my possible Q4 entries while also making progress with my novel. We can sit on the edge of our seats in a couple weeks.

I received a SHM for this quarter. But that’s still great, given how competitive the competition has gotten recently. Fingers crossed for everyone!
