Can I get some critiques for my 17k story?

I've got a 17k story that has already received a once-over from three people.

One was from a writer who gave me some great feedback which I've now incorporated. The second reviewer unambiguously loved it. The third basically felt like it was too short, and wanted it longer so as to better develop several relationships and the emotional side of them.

I'd love to know if the third review was realistic given the constraints of 17k words, and more broadly, it would be great to hear more from people with a love of fantasy and/or experience writing.
