Well, I plan on trying to write for this anthology. It's had some awesomely funny stories in the past and I would like to be part of it.
Check out the cover...it's kind of cute!
The submission window is April 1st - April 30th, 2016.
You can read about it and submit here.
I have no plans for what I'm going to write yet. Is anyone else planning on submitting? Better yet, has anyone been accepted in the past??

Thanks for the info on this project Emily. I'm currently writing a humorous story that needs somewhere to go.
UFO might be its destination.

Oh, I love funny scifi.
The problem is persuading editors that I can do funny.

Humor is the most taste sensitive type of writing there is.
Humor is the most taste sensitive type of writing there is.
Very much this. There's not much that makes me actually laugh out loud in writing--normally "wry smile" is where it tops out. What can I say, I have high standards for humour.
But I have to say, if anyone can make me laugh consistently, it's Alex. Some of his DSF stories have been absolute gold. Reckon I'm overdue for signing up for Kickstarter anyway...
ETA: Kickstarter is here. $1700 to go in 17 hours! Go go go!

I've been wracking my brain for funny so I could give this a shot. Not a thing occurs. I just cannot write humor on demand. It comes organically as I write "regular" fiction quite a bit, but if I try to force it all I get is a blank mind and a blanker page.

I've been writing in a different genre with my last two stories.
While doing so humorous things started happening in one story. Now this opportunity pops up.

I submitted a story here and already received a rejection. However, it was a very encouraging rejection. They said that although it wasn't a good fit, they enjoyed my writing and encouraged me to submit something else during this submission window.
I don't have another story at this time.
Just under a month to see if something else comes...
ETA: Story might not have been a good fit because it was holiday themed...

I usually have to wait for funny stories to come to me, and they haven't come often in the past, but one came in pretty strong yesterday while I was in the car. Not sure if it will work yet. It goes from funny to sad/bittersweet. Will be good to keep it on the lighter side, I think.
Whether this story or any others I can manage this month make it into this anthology, I'm going to challenge myself to aim for one funny story a week. Then, at the end of the month, I'll have four new stories to send out.
Anyone else want to join me on this?
I need to get back into writing short stories again. I've been focused on novels for a while, and I don't see that letting up anytime soon. Eager to get going on the next book in this series, but until I start that book, I'll see how many short stories I can write. Need to write another story for WOTF, too, for Q3.
Rebecca? You up for this? I miss our story-in-a-day challenges.
*Stories don't have to be funny, of course, but I'm going to set that particular challenge for myself.

Congrats on the "please re-submit," Jeanette. Definitely a good sign! You absolutely must get another one finished while the window is open! I just sent one in. Fingers crossed that I'll at least get a personal rejection, because I have another one ready and waiting. I just sold a story to Alternate Hilarities and I've sold a few other humor sci-fi pieces, so I'm hopeful!

40 stories published! (and counting!)
They're doing a very fast turnover. Here we are six days into the window and I've managed to be rejected twice. The first one got please send another and the second one got came close to being advanced to the final consideration round.
However, since Alex says he likes my style of homour it follows that what I sent in must be humorous.
Doesn't it?

Thanks, Preston! I'll see if I can get another one done during the window. Congratulations on your other sales! And good luck for those you're submitting!
Wow, Ishmael, that's great! Have another you can send?

They have a one submission per session rule unless they over-rule it themselves. The second one didn't receive that.
Actually I must start looking for this rule elsewhere. I thought I must be doing really well with my second submission to Aliterate in the current window until I realised you were only allowed one!

I'm still on my first submission. I thought I was doing well, then I got an auto reply ten days after I submitted saying they received my story and look forward to reviewing it. Is it just me or is that incredibly slow for an auto-reply?

That's too bad.
I haven't sent them another story yet. I have one outlined. I should get to it. Not sure if it's going to end up on the funnier side of things or sad/pathetic. Won't know until I write it.

Bummer, Emily.
Don't think I'll be getting another story to them, unless I write it today or early tomorrow.

God help us all, Stewart & I have written another Baker & Dovey tale for this. In a week. 5k words.
This one has rat-people and a dog-kingdom and snakes all fighting underground. It is, if anything, even sillier.

Your finger-crossing must have cancelled out our finger-crossing. We got a rejection in under 12 hours!
Not too surprised. My sense of humour and Alex's seem to be pretty much polar opposites.
