Congrats, everyone!
After a period of purdah, I can report a sale to the forthcoming anthology Chilling Ghost Stories (due 15 August or thereabouts).
This story is 3700 and at pro rates, though Flame Tree Publishing is not yet a recognised SFWA market. I guess that for the purposes of WotF this counts as sale number two, since I'm pretty sure my original pro sale which was a 200 word flash doesn't count, but when the air clears over the contest I'll check with Joni.
This makes eight sales in total and six this year. though so far only two of the latter have actually been published.
From one sale a year in 13 and 14 to one a month in 2015?

Exciting news! It's great to see perseverance paying off for someone. Well deserved in your case and it brings us all hope.
Thanks Rebecca, Bob, Preston and Aaron.
There is one other good thing. Since Flame Tree are based in the UK, at last I am to be published in my own country. Maybe a BBC entry .... ?
Meanwhile my recent holiday has allowed my stories on submission to drop to a mere twenty. To be remedied as soon as I get over the jet lag!

20 on submission at once? Yeah, that's part of the reason you're selling one a month. Not just because they're out there, but the hours of work you put into them represents a honing of the craft.
Good stuff.

Congrats, Ish, and yup, having a lot on submission definitely helps. I've never reached 20. I struggle to stay in double figures, I've spent much of this year at 2 or 3 subs so no surprise that I haven't sold for a while. Realizing this just won't do I've forced it back up a bit, it's at 10 again now. <img src="

And I believe you'll have even more success if you continue writing and submitting -- from what I've heard of other writers, when you start gathering momentum it starts getting easier to roll.

Thanks to Tamlyn, Dustin, Elinor and George.
I like to think that the quality is higher as well as the quantity, but that didn't stop the rejections piling up whilst I was away. I guess nothing ever does stop that. Any prizes for a 178 day form rejection from Tin House do you think?
Nevertheless there are still a few intriguingly large numbers in the 'days out' column. I do hope they don't all turn out to be mislaid on the way out or the way in; I've had quite a few of those and they are seriously galling.
It would also be nice if some more acceptances turned into publications, but I guess that would just be pushy!

Um, so, my Kickstarter for an indie comic book set in Pluto's orbit has been featured in The A.V. Club.
Congrats everyone! I'm having such internet trouble that I'm not online as much as I want currently. I'm trying to fit a lot in at the moment, hoping my data won't be decimated when I'm finished.
Good to see so much good stuff going on when I zip on and off occasionally.

Haven't posted in awhile because I don't always log in when I skim the forum...but July is being rather nice to me. (Or at least the fruits of my labor are visible this months. Most of these acceptances came ages ago, but for some reason they have all managed to get pubbed this summer(for those of us in the Northern hemisphere.))
Target Audience Reprint in EGM Shorts (and ok this was technically June but my first reprint so yay)

My story "The Monastery of the Parallels" is up today at OSC's Intergalactic Medicine Show!
This story got an R last year from the contest. I almost didn't send it out again, but some awesome friends (you know who you are!) told me to get it the heck out again, because I loved it so much. Now I am officially convinced that an R means zip in the overall scheme of things. Plus, squee!
And wow, I haven't checked in on this thread in a while. You all are putting out some amazing stuff! Grats, HL, Dustin, Alex, and Philip!
