Congrats, Tina!
Or is it Alice?
LOL. Alice Faris is closer to my real name that Tina Gower is....Well, I guess they're both equally close.
All my names are pen names!! I'm actually your crazy cat lady neighbor who stares at you while water her plastic roses planted in a tin planter.

I once heard a distinguished person tell a story of his visit to an old people's home where not all of the inmates had full use of their faculties.
Speaking to one old lady, he happened to ask her, "Do you know who I am?"
The lady replied, "No dear, but if you ask Matron, she'll tell you."

I've just been sorting through some old mags in preparation for a much-needed clearing out. Came across an article on one of my favourite shows, Blake's 7. Apparently one of the producer/writers, Vere Lorimer used to get muddled between the two lead actresses whose names were Sally and Jan, but whose characters were called Jenna and Cally respectively. Apparently he would yell things like, "Er. Where is Jelly? Uh. Where is Jam?? Er. WHERE ARE MY HEROINES?!?"

I read this, I got it right away at first thinking the bird was a familiar but understood soon enough. At the end the twist is understandable - I got it. So; I want to know why the comments on the site by people who said it was too difficult to follow? I am not trying to be mean but do those who commented about being unable to follow this story just lack imagination? This was a very good story even though I do not like romance type stories.

Not long ago scientists postulated that our entire universe was quite possibly a hologram. I KNEW it; we ARE in the Matrix!
An occupational hazard of all communicators is an occasional failure to communicate. The more satisfying a story is to some readers, the more mystifying it is going to be to others. We need to bear in mind that 'perception presupposes recognition' and we don't all recognise the same things. Did I ever tell this forum the story about the south sea islanders and the elevator?
Sometimes also 'I don't understand x' is a helpful comment. I am quite happy to concede that 'The Man on the Church Street Omnibus' was a much better story after I took account of Alison Wilgus's comments than it was before.

I was actually quite excited at first, because I have long longed for something written in the vein of Watership Down. What genre is that anyway? And why aren't there more stories written in the POV of animals excluding anthropomorphized ones who use swords and dress in clothes?
Rebecca did an awesome job capturing how a bird of prey would see the world. I admit I was a little disappointed when she turned out to be a human though. Not a criticism of the story, just a wish unfulfilled. Such a story just isn't published I suppose.
My advice for stories published on EDF?
Never read the comments. Half of them are by people who know the author, half are by people who are (apparently) bitter that their own story didn't get published, and the remaining half (yes, I know) seems to be made up of people who think "leave a comment" means "please take this opportunity to give us revision/editing suggestions for this story we have already purchased and published."

So, for the cormorant lady, here's one I photographed earlier:
This one was in Kinderdijk, Netherlands, where the polder are several feet below river level and windmills are still used to lift groundwater over the dyke.
The thing I love about your stories, Rebecca, is the seemingly effortless ease with which you create such atmosphere. Nice to get an interview, too. Onwards and upwards now!
