Happy to say that I sold two speculative poems (a haiku and a tanka) to Grievous Angel, a new pro-paying flash and poetry imprint of Urban Fantasist.

From query to submission to sale took about 4 days, so if anyone's got some flash or speculative poetry lying around, get it while it's hot! wotf007

Congrats, Stewart. Pro-sales are always nice. Hmm, I guess you can sell as much pro-level poetry as you want and still submit to the contest too.

Sold a story to Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine! Even better, it's a story set in the current series I'm writing, the Alexandrian Saga! The story is called "The Trouble with Virgins".

Whoa! EQMM! Very nicely done, Thomas!

I had two acceptances over the weekend to (far less illustrious) semi-pro/token markets: a poetry sale to Lakeside Circus and a short story sale to Chuffed Buff Books Press for their "Tales of Mystery, Suspense & Terror" anthology.

(Lest it seem like all I do is sell things, I also had a personal rejection and a form rejection for two other markets in the same time period.)

Monster sale, Thomas! And part of a series, no less, so you have a draw for future sales to them.

Nice work. Congratulations.

Thanks all! I've actually known for a week, but kept my trap shut until I received the contract. That was hard. wotf001

I've actually written five other short stories set in this time as prequeals to my novels, though the main character from the novels is only a secondary character in the short stories, including the one I just sold to EQMM (and visa verse, the main character in the shorts is barely in the novels). The other five are currently indie pubbed (I did sub them to EQMM before pubbing them, I guess I must have finally wore her down). I have ideas for other stories around this main character (the Magistrate of the Rhakotis District), so she'll be seeing more stories from me in the future.

wotf011

I'm still pumped. wotf007

Thomas, this is a fantastic sale. Well done, and Congrats!

I think I've kept up with everyone else. Apart from the Quarter threads, this is one of the few I visit - because I find it inspiring, and I love sharing in the success of (forum) friends.
