And what happened just a couple months after selling this story? I made my first ever PRO sale to Unidentified Funny Objects 8! Ahhh!! I'm so freaking happy! (It's a funny sci-fi humor story titled "Ambrose Starkisser Encounters That Which Is Locked," and it'll be coming out in late September/early October.)

So, yeah. Five years of rejections would have ground me down but for the Honorable Mentions and one Silver Honorable Mention from WotF. I can't overstate what a morale boost they were. Seriously. After that SHM in 2018, I kinda went into overdrive, reading and studying and practicing SFF as much as possible. Thank you WotF!

Congrats to the others in this thread who've sold stories recently! The folks on this forum are killing it! 

I did a exercise on point of view with the Toronto Sci Fi and Fantasy Writers Group, and they are publishing it in the second edition of Speculative North. It's nice to get a sale for a piece I didn't even submit, but the major success for me is writing publishable work (even as an example of a writing exercise) as a first draft. Typically, my first drafts are awful. But this piece took me all of 25 mins.

Twenty-five minutes to produce something publishable - Blimey! Well done.

(Apparently I could have announced when the contract was signed, but most of my experience before this was with anthologies that asked me to wait until they officially announced their contents, so I figured better safe than sorry--and then months went by. I finally decided to ask today.  )

Hello everyone. I never thought I’d be able to post anything on this thread, since I've never had any major achievements in writing. But finally, I've got some good news to share! My 70k novel just got accepted at World Castle Publishing! It’s a small press, however, this is a very big milestone for me
