The
Writers & Illustrators of the Future writing and illustrating contests are
international in scope and creative writing talents from around
the world are judged quarterly. The winners are published in the
annual Writers of the Future anthology.
Each anthology
contains the best new science fiction and fantasy short stories
as well as award-winning illustrations by budding new artists—all
winners of the annual Illustrators of the Future Contest.
The winners of the writing competition get awarded with cash prizes
starting at $500 and going as high as $5,000 for the Grand Prize
winner. 1st place winners of the writing contest are awarded $1,000
every quarter.
Established in 1983 by L. Ron Hubbard expressly for the aspiring
writer, Writers of the Future has become the most respected
and significant forum for new talent in all aspects of speculative
fiction. Unlike other writing competitions, this contest is judged
by an elite panel of judges, all accomplished authors in the field
of science fiction and fantasy. These judges include: Kevin
