We wanted to keep you up to date, and let you know about upcoming in-store events that are happening across the country, and possibly in your area, so you can go meet and support the winners and get advice and tips from them on what it takes to be the next Writers or Illustrators of the Future winner.

Nnedi Okorafor

Writers of the Future Volume XVIII winner Nnedi Okorafor has just released her first young adult novel, titled Zahrah the Windseeker, published by Houghton Mifflin.

The story is a fantastical travelogue into the unknown of a young girl's fears, and the magical world that surrounds her town. Already it has received advance praise from Kirkus Reviews and the New York Public Library. The Writers of the Future Contest congratulates her, and wishes her continued success in her writing career.

Over the past two decades the Writers of the Future Contest has been honored with an illustrious panel of judges who have helped select the brightest new voices in SF and fantasy whose stories get published in the annual anthology.
