WRITERS OF THE FUTURE WINNER PUBLISHES FIRST NOVEL!

Nnedi Okorafor

Writers of the Future Volume XVIII winner Nnedi Okorafor has just released her first young adult novel, titled Zahrah the Windseeker, published by Houghton Mifflin.

The story is a fantastical travelogue into the unknown of a young girl's fears, and the magical world that surrounds her town. Already it has received advance praise from Kirkus Reviews and the New York Public Library. The Writers of the Future Contest congratulates her, and wishes her continued success in her writing career.

AND NOW, A WORD FROM OUR JUDGES...

Over the past two decades the Writers of the Future Contest has been honored with an illustrious panel of judges who have helped select the brightest new voices in SF and fantasy whose stories get published in the annual anthology.

We thought it only appropriate to share with you what some of these master wordsmiths have to say about the latest anthology, and hope it inspires you to dig deeper into your imagination for those characters and stories that demand to see the light of day on the pages of L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future.

"This collection shows why I'm happy to be a judge for the Writers of the Future Contest—it always finds great stories by the new writers who will be winning Hugo and Nebula Awards a few years from now."
TIM POWERS

"These stories push the boundaries—entertaining, creative and greatly varied. A feast for short story lovers."
GREGORY BENFORD

"This year, I was judging among the four winners of the quarterly contests to see which one would receive the Gold Award. I saw the best of the best. Reading those stories was like getting this great anthology in itself. Choosing among them was very, very hard.
...
"Keep the Writers of the Future going. It's what keeps Sci-Fi alive."

"L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future anthologies are a roadmap—they show the future of science fiction by showcasing tomorrow's writers today. These are the best of the next generation, and their stories are a heck of a read. . . . My own achievements in Writers of the Future opened a path that I'm still exploring—if you want to follow that path, read the book, enter the contest, grow with the winners."
— Jay Lake, Writers of the Future winner, published author, and recipient of the John W. Campbell Award
