rom the outset, the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of The Future Contest panel of judges has represented an extraordinary gathering of many of the greatest names in speculative and contemporary fiction—authors whose distinguished careers collectively span virtually the entire history of modern science fiction and fantasy, from the masters of the “Golden Age”—the immense flourishing of the genre in the 1930’s and 1940’s—to the present.

The professional authors have brought to the Writers of The Future Contest, the annual anthology and the writing workshops—individually and collaboratively—their superb creative talents and energies, their deep professionalism, and their wholehearted commitment to discovering novice writers of ability and promise, then assisting them in their quest for publication and professional recognition.

The support from the world of speculative fiction for the Writers of The Future Program has been enthusiastically evident from the beginning, and nowhere more clearly than in the remarkable make-up of the panel itself.

Luminaries all, the judges have sought with zeal and great distinction to help fulfill L. Ron Hubbard’s defining goal for the program: to nurture the beginning writer, without whom there exists no literary future.
