The 22nd Annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards were held at the
San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park on August 18th, 2006

For over two decades the L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests have helped launch the successful careers of bright new talent in the field of speculative fiction writing as well as science fiction and fantasy art.

The first story in this year's L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 22 is by Blake Hutchins, a one-time public defender, firefighter, computer-game designer and teacher who is now writing full-time. His story, The Sword from the Sea, marks the launch of his professional career.
