The 27th Annual Awards Ceremony was held on Sunday, May 15 at the Hotel Roosevelt in the heart of tinseltown. It took place once again in the "Blossom Room", which is the same room that hosted the very first Academy Awards, today known as "the Oscars." Winners from the contest year 1 Oct 2009 to 30 Sep 2010 attended. The Writers and Illustrators of the Future workshops were held in Hollywood as well at Author Services Inc. The winner of the L. Ron Hubbard Gold Award for best illustrator of the year was Irvin Rodriguez from Bronx, New York and the Gold Award for the best story of the year went to R. P. L. Johnson from Melbourne, Australia for his tale In Apprehension, How Like a God.

Each volume contains creative tales selected by top authors in the speculative fiction field, and also includes articles on writing and illustration from the foremost writers and artists in the genre.
