Susan Fry grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lubbock Texas.  She moved to the San Francisco Bay area, where she received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in English from Stanford University.  She also studied overseas at Oxford in England and in France and she spent a summer teaching English in Prague.  She worked in Egypt as a journalist and a teacher at the American University in Cairo. She then returned to the San Francisco Bay area and worked in international business development for magazines PC World and Wired. When wearing a suit got to be too much, she began freelance writing, mostly about business and technology.

She also started writing fiction and, in 1998, attended Clarion West. Since then she has published three stories, all in anthologies.  She also edited the speculative fiction market magazine, Speculations for two years. During that time, the magazine was twice nominated for a Hugo.

Susan is currently living in the San Francisco Bay area with her husband, Cadir.  She says she tends to write fantasy, horror and mysteries, often about women who aren’t as nice as they should be.  Susan is currently working on a novel.
